Always seek a doctor’s or qualified medical officer’s advice before taking medication. Do not buy medicine that has not been prescribed for you to take. Don’t forget that a private pharmacy is a business with the goal to make a profit. Always check the expiry date of all medication before you take it. If the medication doesn’t have an expiry date on it, don’t take it.
Medical prescriptions are very specific and are meant to treat specific conditions of a patient. Even if you feel like you have the same condition, you should seek the doctor’s advice first.
If the doctor told you about the side effects and they are bearable, you can continue with caution. However, if the side effects are not expected, and they are unbearable; you should notify your prescriber as soon as possible and seek advice.
It depends on what kind of medication. Antibiotics generally are prescribed in courses and this means they have to be completed even if you feel better. Pain killers on the other hand may be discontinued if they were prescribed for pain that has since resolved.
